As the Original Messenger of the Mayan Prophecy of 2012, José Argüelles is the man responsible for turning the eyes of the world to the profundity of Mayan Time Science. As a professor, author, artist, visionary scientist, peace activist, humanitarian, cultural pioneer, and spiritual guide, the fruits of his life’s work have touched thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people, who in turn have spread the seeds of his precious knowledge and revelations the world over. At
age 14, José had a visionary experience atop the Pyramid of
the Sun, Teotihuacan, Mexico in 1953. Ever since that moment,
he pursued a lifelong investigation of decoding the mysteries
of the Ancient Maya - their calendars, prophecies, cosmology
and mathematics. In 1987, he gained international acclaim
with his book "The Mayan Factor" which revolutionized
the world's comprehension of the Ancient Maya, and clarified
the significance of their natural time wisdom in this modern
era, as we now live through the closing of their Grand Cycle.
After decades of living immersed in the cycles and mathematics of Mayan calendrics, José came to clearly understand the distinction between this "natural time" as contrasted to our modern relationship to time which he called "mechanical time" or "artificial time." This realization was formalized in 1989 when he made The Discovery of The Law of Time. According to The Law of Time, "modern humanity is out of harmony with our living biosphere because it is immersed in an erroneous and artificial perception of time which causes it to deviate at an accelerated rate from the natural order of the universe. To remedy this situation, Arguelles dedicated his life to promoting the return to a natural timing cycle..." In other words, the message is that humans are the only species that is out of phase with the harmony of the biosphere, and the root cause of this is our disconnection from Nature, which stems directly from our disconnection with natural time cycles...therefore we need to follow a nature-based calendar to shift back into alignment. In short, José Argüelles brought the life-changing awareness to our modern culture that "Time is not money. Time is Art." He dedicated his life to educating people around the world that calendars are actually programs of culture, and that we must make the distinction between "artificial time" and "natural time" in order that we can re-align with the harmonies of Nature and fulfill the opportunities of these times of Living Prophecy... Based on his life-long studies, in 1992 José synthesized ancient teachings and new revelations and presented a modern, universal application of ancient Mayan time science, in service to assisting modern humanity to return to living in Natural Time. This calendar system is known as "Dreamspell" or "The 13-Moon Calendar." Rather than being a traditional Mayan Calendar that connects one specifically to the culture of the Maya people and their lands, history, ancestry, and religion, the calendar system Arguelles brought forward is intended for people of all cultures. Not only did he offer a time-map one could refer to every day to be in tune with natural time cycles, he and his then-wife LLoydine, also travelled around the world sharing this unique insight, and simultaneously generated a global movement known as The World Thirteen Moon Calendar Change Peace Movement. As a result of his dedication, this 13-Moon Calendar system is now activated by people in 90 countries around the world who have joined forces to help humanity align our lives with the rhythms of nature! Change your calendar, change your time, change your mind, change our world... It was José Argüelles’ life-changing teachings that first touched Eden Sky in 1995, and awakened her life’s work of publishing The 13-Moon Natural Time Calendar which she and her husband produce every year, and is available on this website. The
essence of José Argüelles’ vision was for
humanity to cooperate together in honoring and restoring Planet
Earth as a Living Work of Art! Ah
Yum Hunab Ku Evam Maya E Ma Ho! José
