INTO THE CARTESIAN COORDINATE RECTILINEAR GRID -FROM
PHYSICIST MARK COMINGS-

The scientific models of the universe that still prevail in the 21st century are arrayed upon, embedded within, and generated out of a conception of space that was brought into focus and mathematically formalized by Rene Descartes around the year 1637.
Descartes invented the coordinate system that presently dominates the human conceptual mapping of space and nature while observing and contemplating the erratic course of a fly buzzing about his room and realizing that, if he could determine the distance to each of the "axes" formed by the rectangular walls of his room, he could precisely describe its exact position and that a succession of such co-ordinates would define the otherwise elusive curves that marked the fly's course.
As its popularity increased and its use and application became widespread, the Cartesian grid gradually became a doctrine, an unquestioned framework through which the entire world came to be viewed, analyzed, dissected, categorized and catalogued into the mechanically interacting parts of the cosmos which came to be viewed as a vast machine.
The widespread adoption of the Cartesian Grid frame of reference for mapping and conceiving of the nature of space has had great consequences in terms of the developmental course that modern human civilization has taken as well as on the focus, orientation, and set of values that it has held. This rectilinear grid has played an enormous role in setting up the map or worldview through which the mind of contemporary humans see and make sense of their world. One has only to look at any modern city and see the vastly predominant spatial archetype is the rectilinear grid. Nearly everything including the layout of cities and the architecture of most buildings are structured out of a mental framework that is profoundly enamored (if not obsessed) with and based upon the rectilinear Cartesian grid.
The effects of the widespread internalization of this gridded out sense of space on the human race have been vast and, although initially a catalyst for the scientific and industrial revolutions, has become deleterious to and stifling of humanity's mental and spiritual health. The angular constraints of the Rectilinear Cartesian Grid model of space have cramped, stunted and disrupted the harmony of the collective mindfield of the human species. It is as if, through the chronic mental fixation of humanity upon the Grid of Descartes, the Creative Imagination of humanity as a whole has been put in a kind of rectilinear straitjacket that reduces the general creative output of the species to endless variations of this spatial archetype.
The Cartesian Grid by its very nature directs the mind not toward light or spirit, but toward matter and mechanism. It creates a mental focus that is toward analysis not toward synthesis. The age of analysis with its endless and absurd specialization, compartmentalization, dissection, and fragmentation is over. We are now in the age of synthesis, a time of putting all the pieces and fragmented bits of knowledge back together to get a sense of what the nature, meaning, and significance of the whole of life, of existence, of Reality itself is about.
The coordinate system that is ideal for taking us intrepidly into the age of synthesis is the "Radial Matrix" for it provides the simplest and most elegant image of the whole system world model. It is based on the radial nature of light, which is certainly of central importance in the design of the Cosmos and provides a perfectly symmetrical framework for modeling the naturally symmetric features of the manifest cosmos, including the very process of manifestation itself (viewed as a precipitation or materialization of matter or mass out of the fullness of the void.)
As a universal coordinate system, the Radial Matrix is formulated within and informed by the wisdom brought forth by the discovery of the Law of Time. The Radial Matrix is firmly and clearly centered in the now-moment from which linear-sequential time, if it even exists at all, arises as ripples or standing wave patterns shimmering out of the radiant center of the now-moment.
...Now is where you are. Now is where you always are. You are always exactly in the center of the Now Moment and you never leave it. Now is where your whole life happens!
